Runnels Parents' Organization, affectionately referred to as the RPO, is comprised of parents interested in providing support to the teachers by enhancing our children’s experiences provided by Runnels school. We encourage you to be a part of the RPO. We welcome your ideas, talent, and time to help us with the many parties and events throughout the year. If you work full-time, part-time or at home we can work around your schedule to give you the opportunity to be involved. Membership is automatic for all parents of children attending Runnels.
To volunteer, you can either print and fill out this RPO Volunteer form and return it to the Elementary Office, OR you can fill out and save the form and email it to rpo@runnels.org.
Here is a brief outline of opportunities available:
Bookends: Is a group of parent volunteers that assist our wonderful elementary librarian with a variety of tasks during the class periods and book fair.
Parties: What would elementary school be without parties? We have great coordinators for each class that you can get in touch with to volunteer. It is a great way to get to know your kid’s friends and their parents. Contact your coordinator and ask how you can help.
Teacher Appreciation: Is a weeklong event in the spring to celebrate those wonderful men and women who shape our children on a daily basis. Activities are designed to pamper these special people and show them how their hard work and dedication is appreciated and valued. The themes and festivities are just amazing. Each year I wonder what they will do next year to top this!
Fundraising: We're planning a Spring Fundraiser/Social to generate funds that will enhance our children’s school experience by providing technology enhancements, audio/visual equipment, playground equipment, ongoing Library improvements including contributing to the Accelerated Reader Program and other projects. It also creates an opportunity for parents to get together. We, as a parent volunteer board, are grateful that our children are never asked to “sell” anything. However, it does make raising funds challenging so any idea that doesn’t require the students selling would be appreciated. If you have any suggestions or questions please feel free to contact me. Be involved—just say yes.
